Self-Assessment Essay
Throughout this course we had faced new assignments, added terms & new discoveries. The major three assignments were about Lab report, technical description, and group project. We had fun throughout doing all the assignments, draft, and challenge assignments. The most remarkable assignment was the squirrel proof feeder and PBJ challenge. It was a unique assignment which helps me to look for things more clearly. The most important thing I have learned is writing a lab report properly, technical description and how to do a group project cooperatively. At the beginning I learned about the rhetorical situation and how to paraphrase any sentence. I applied those skills on my major assignments and other participation assignments. The peer review work was a great assignment which helped me to correct myself and gain more knowledge from my peers and justify their works as a peer.
Our first major assignment was a Lab report. It was not an easy assignment for a beginner like me. But our professor gave us instructions which I had followed. She also helped me to find the proper resource for my lab report. The lab report I wrote was about a chemical volcano using chromium oxide (Cr2O7). From this assignment I had learned the practice of using various library resources, online databases, and the Internet to locate sources appropriate to your writing projects & engage in genre analysis and multimodal composing to explore effective writing across disciplinary contexts and beyond. Because I had to research the experiment I had chosen and justify its integrity so that my audience can have a real feel of the experiment and I can assure my honesty to them. I also had to give a description of chromium oxide which was used for my assignment. All that supports the learning outcome. We also had to write and submit the draft which was reviewed by our professor. I had fulfilled all her advice on my final draft thus I learned the learning outcome of enhancing strategies for reading, drafting, revising, editing, and self-assessment. This assignment also helped me how to write a lab report properly and what parts are needed for a perfect lab report. As an engineering major this assignment will help me a lot in my future.
The technical Description assignment was another unique assignment. It is an educational and creative assignment for me. Because I was able to read a lot of descriptions about Air pods, Computer CPU, Ram etc. MY Technical Description was about Robotic Arm. I was so happy to write about it because I had to do a project on robotic arm. The description assignment not only helped me to know about those things but also developed my interest in gaining more knowledge about them. I was about to learn how to strengthen my source use practices (including evaluating, integrating, quoting, paraphrasing, summarizing, synthesizing, analyzing, and citing sources) by citing the reference sources. As I had to use the sources from the internet to analyze and write my technical description, I was able to achieve the learning outcome of using various library resources, online databases, and the Internet to locate sources appropriate to your writing projects.
The Last group assignment was about Engineering proposal about any project. It was a collaborative work. It was about plastic recycling Road. I was incredibly happy to work with my group. It was my first time to work with a group for a project. We had to divide the works into different section in order make it perfect. And making the presentation was a good task. Because before I had not done any presentation like this with a group. Through this task I was able work cooperatively with a group which is an extremely helpful thing for the future. And giving presentation has also helped me to cope with the shyness I had. Because with shyness it becomes extremely hard to give presentation in front of people. This proposal presentation will help me a lot in my future career to present any proposal. Through this proposal presentation I had earned the quality how to find out a problem, how to use the internet resources to research about it and how to find out the solution. The previous assignment about the squirrel proof bird feeder was a great warm up for the engineering proposal assignment. Because on that assignment we had to find out what was the problem for the bird feeder and how the youtuber came with an extra ordinary solution. Firstly, through this assignment I earned the learning outcome of seven of practice using various library resources, online databases, and the Internet to locate sources appropriate to your writing projects because we had to use library and online databases to present the proposal with a problem of conventional road and the effectiveness of plastic road. Secondly, I have developed and engaged in the collaborative and social aspects of writing processes. Because the presentation was to do good with the nation. And I had to strengthen my source use practices (including evaluating, integrating, quoting, paraphrasing, summarizing, synthesizing, analyzing, and citing sources) to make the assignments more precise. Lastly, I am going to Thank Professor Brown because of the feedback on my assignment and assigning us those assignments. Because previously I did not know the perfect format to write a lab report so that my audience can relate with it. She also helped me to know how a technical description look there is a lot to say about her. Overall, this course helped me to do work with a group which will be helpful for my future career. And analyzing problem and cum up with a solution was the motivation behind the engineering proposal this kind of motivation will help me to do a lot because I hope to pursue my career as a software developer.
